Our organization is dedicated to finding myriad ways to enhance the leadership skills of our members. We’re particularly interested in making sure that the volunteers in charge of our association – on both a local and national level – feel equipped, empowered and engaged to lead their organizations.


That’s why we’re excited about this year’s leadership training, the Association President’s Exchange – or APEX – meeting. Our plan is to gather as many local association presidents, treasurers, presidents-elect and other board members as possible, joining with the National Board, in an environment that will help us get a head start on dramatically moving our organizations forward in the coming year.


We’ve planned this second annual event for Monday, July 10, at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans. This all-day meeting will precede the Ultimate Mortgage Expo (, which NAPMW sponsors. All attendees of the APEX meeting will also be automatically registered for the Ultimate Mortgage Expo.


There is NO registration fee for either the APEX meeting, or the Ultimate Mortgage Expo. But local leaders will be responsible for their travel and hotel costs. Since we were able this year to produce the NAPMW Annual conference without any sponsorship support from local associations, we hope that you will be able to adequately budget this in your coming fiscal year. We have secured discounted hotel rooms for just $139 per night.


Below is our outline for the day. Our hope is to have representation for all of our local associations – our National Board members have all committed to being part of the day for this effort. Performance Management Solutions

As a leader, or future leader, of your NAMPW Local, one of the biggest challenges is grooming the next generation of members to step into leadership roles. For that, they need you to help guide, coach and mentor them. Research and practice have shown that mentoring can provide supporting and encouraging opportunities for leadership growth of women in all areas of financial services.  Mentoring is a relationship and learning process that results in many benefits for both the mentee and mentor as well as organization.


In this interactive session, participants will gain insights into maximizing their mentoring experience from a variety of levels.  This session will include such topics as coaching vs. mentoring, types and stages of mentoring, and best practices for producing meaningful mentoring relationships and programs.


11:10 a.m. – Noon


Join the NAPMW National Board as we work with the presidents, presidents-elect and other leaders from our Local Associations on transition issues, best practices, and tips and tricks for a successful transition of leadership and continuous engagement with members. This session will expand on the training discussion begun at the NAPMW Annual Conference.


NOON – 1:15 p.m.



1:15 – 2:00 p.m.


We’ll break into round-table discussions to share best practices and top techniques to advance your career and drive up your income and influence. We’ll work cooperatively to present the “best of the best,” with winners walking out with special prizes for the most useful and imaginative ideas. This is a lively idea-sharing session that will give you an opportunity to work one-on-one with your fellow attendees.


2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.


NAPMW’s National Treasurer and other leaders will help the financial leaders at our Local Associations understand their duties and obligations under our organization bylaws and operating procedures. This session is meant as both an introductory how-to and as a refresher for Local Treasurers and other Local Association leaders with fiduciary responsibilities and obligations.

We’ll conduct a mock National Board Meeting to illustrate proper procedure, reporting and parliamentarian rules for all Association Leaders


4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
